The Rite of Baptism is the first of the seven sacraments and the gateway to the rest. It is how a person (even a baby) officially becomes part of the Catholic Church. This spiritual gift is washing away sin and receiving God's grace, as well as affirming a commitment to living out the Catholic faith.
What means to be baptized: - Cleansing of Original Sin – Catholics believe that baptism washes away original sin (the sin all humans inherit) and gives the child a new life in Christ.
- Grace and New Life – Through baptism, the child receives God’s grace and the gift of the Holy Spirit.
- Faith Community – The child is not baptized just as an individual but is welcomed into the parish community and the universal Catholic Church.
Role of Parents and Godparents – Parents (and godparents) make a public promise to raise the child in the Catholic faith—teaching them about God, bringing them to Mass, and helping them grow spiritually.
Baptisms are celebrated after the 11:30 a.m. Mass on Sundays. This form provides information in order to arrange your child's baptism. Please note, a personal meeting will need to be arranged to discuss each individual's personal situation and to complete the coordination of the baptism.
